Undergraduate Research Program

Conference Travel Award

UPDATE: June 16, 2020
We have expended our travel award funds for the 2019-20 academic year and are currently only able to accept new applications from UW Bothell students, and Mary Gates, Washington Research Foundation, and Levinson scholars as those awards include travel funding. If you are among these groups, email urp@uw.edu for an application link. Regardless of your status, be advised that we are currently accepting applications for online/virtual conferences only.
We look forward to accepting new applications for all students this autumn for the 2020-21 academic year. We will update this site with any future changes to this policy.

Publicly communicating your own research and sharing your ideas with others are important parts of engaging in academic research.

The Undergraduate Research Conference Travel Award:

  • Enables you to extend your research experience by contributing to important discussions of current research at professional conferences
  • Provides funding toward national conference travel expenses and registration fees

Please note: This funding is not provided for students to carry out research. Return to the Research Funding homepage for more information on funding to carry out research.

We encourage all students who have a paper, poster, or scholarly creative work that has been accepted for presentation at a professional conference to apply for an award.

Funding for this program is generously provided by the UW’s Office of Research, the Mary Gates Endowment for Students, and the Undergraduate Research Program.
