Kakehashi Project Application
Twenty-three student participants will be selected on a rolling basis beginning in early November 2015. Applications will be accepted through November 30th.

To participate in the Kakehashi Project you must:
- Be an enrolled UW student, and able to take the three credit “Encountering Japan” class (on Mondays from 4:30-5:20 pm) during winter quarter.
- Be at least 18 years old by March 14, 2016.
- Be a US citizen or green card holder (special stipulations for green card holders apply).
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Be a JSIS major or a student in another major who has demonstrated interest in Japan.
- Never have traveled to Japan before.
- Have no outstanding or previous student conduct infractions on your record.
- Have a passport valid for at least six months past March 22, 2016.
- Adhere to the UW Study Abroad and Kakehashi standards of conduct.
- Purchase UW Study Abroad insurance to cover the ten days you’ll spend in Japan.
- Take part in outreach on your return—instructing Seattle students about some aspect of Japanese culture that you learned through your study program.
