{"id":65878,"date":"2026-04-17T11:06:45","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T18:06:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/new-tools\/spaerc\/topics\/reassign-item\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T11:06:45","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T18:06:45","slug":"reassign-item","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/new-tools\/spaerc\/topics\/reassign-item\/","title":{"rendered":"Reassign an Item"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are several ways to assign an item to another person or to a virtual location such as File.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From within the open item: click the <strong>Assignments <\/strong>tab<\/li>\n<li>From the Tasklist: find the item you want to\u00a0reassign, click on <strong>Actions +<\/strong> and select <strong>Reassign<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>From within the opened Cycle that contains the item: click <strong>Reassign<\/strong> next to that specific item<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a result, the Reassign page will display, either directly if the tab was clicked, or in a separate window.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> You cannot assign a Funding Action or any type of Admin Action to &#8220;File&#8221; if it has a status of &#8220;In OSP.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"make-assignment\">Make the Reassignment<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Under <strong>Reassign<\/strong>, use the <strong>Assign To<\/strong> drop-down menu to select the desired individual or location<\/li>\n<li>Optionally, you can enter a comment in the OSP note field<\/li>\n<li>To complete the process, click <strong>Assign<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the Reassign page had opened in a separate window, it will automatically close when you click the Assign button.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> You also have the option to reassign an item when you add or modify a Hold, or change its status (Deny, Mark as Duplicate, Approve, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>When you are reassigning an item that&#8217;s in a cycle, you can reassign other <strong>Related Cycle Items<\/strong>\u00a0at the same time.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"view-assign-history\">View Assignment History<\/h2>\n<p>You can also see the item\u2019s Assignment History from the Reassign page. The history shows prior assignments and indicates the date and time, who made the change, the new assignment, and any added notes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On the Reassign page, scroll down to the Assignment History section, and click <strong>Show Assignment History<\/strong> to expand the section<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The information displayed includes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Date Assigned is the date of the change.<\/li>\n<li>Assigned By displays the person who made the change.<\/li>\n<li>Assigned To displays the new assigned person or location.<\/li>\n<li>OSP Note Text displays any notes entered with the reassignment; a system-generated comment displays for default, or initial, assignments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are several ways to assign an item to another person or to a virtual location such as File.
