{"id":65819,"date":"2026-04-17T11:05:56","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T18:05:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/new-tools\/spaerc\/topics\/attachments\/fa-and-aa-attachments\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T11:05:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T18:05:57","slug":"fa-and-aa-attachments","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/new-tools\/spaerc\/topics\/attachments\/fa-and-aa-attachments\/","title":{"rendered":"FA and AA Attachments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This article explains how to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#attach\">attach a document to an action<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#view\">view attached documents<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#update\">update an attached document<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#delete\">delete an attached document<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both\u00a0Funding Actions (FAs) and Admin Actions (AAs) have an Attachments section where you can upload and view documents.<\/p>\n<p>For FAs, the Attachment section displays just above the OSP Notes History section, near the bottom of the page.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2316\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/spaerc_fa_attachments_location.jpg\" alt=\"funding action attachments section\" width=\"365\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For AAs, the Attachment section displays at the end of the first page section.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2317\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/spaerc_aa_attachments_location.jpg\" alt=\"admin action attachments location\" width=\"492\" height=\"261\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The system will automatically attach a copy of any Auto-Generated Document you create for the FA or AA in this section.<\/p>\n<p>SPAERC indicates the number of attachments for FAs just beneath the Attachments heading.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Campus users can view the documents you attach to an action from the Related Documents section of the eGC1.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"attach\">To attach a document<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the Lock icon to unlock the action, if needed.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Add Attachment<\/strong>, and then enter a description for the attachment.<\/li>\n<li>Use the File Type drop-down menu to select the type of document you plan to attach.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/spaerc_partial_add_attachment.jpg\" alt=\"admin action adding an attachment\" width=\"344\" height=\"136\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"4\">Then click <strong>Choose File<\/strong> to locate the file you want to attach, click the file name to select it.<\/li>\n<li value=\"5\">Click <strong>Upload<\/strong> to complete the process. The page will display information about the attachment and the system will update the attachment count.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/spearc_action_attachment_list.jpg\" alt=\"action attachment list\" width=\"918\" height=\"150\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0You can change the File Type after you have attached the document.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"view\">To view attached documents<\/h2>\n<p>Click the <strong>View<\/strong> link to the right of the attachment information to open the attachment in a new window.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"update\">To update an attached document<\/h2>\n<p>You can upload a new version of the document using the &#8220;update&#8221; function for the existing attachment. SPAERC maintains all of the attached versions of a document.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Update <\/strong>to the right of the attached document you want to update.\u00a0The File Type drop-down menu will automatically display the type of the document you are updating.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a description, browse to find the new document, and upload it. Only the updated version will display in the list of attachments.<\/li>\n<li>To see the earlier versions of a document, click the &#8220;+&#8221; to the left of the attachment description to expand the version history.
