{"id":65754,"date":"2026-04-17T11:04:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T18:04:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/new-tools\/spaerc\/topics\/admin-actions\/create-admin-action\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T11:04:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T18:04:58","slug":"create-admin-action","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/new-tools\/spaerc\/topics\/admin-actions\/create-admin-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Create an Admin Action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You can create an admin action in three ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#TLParent\">From the Tasklist of the Parent Item<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#Parent\">From within the open Parent Item<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#AdminTab\">From the Administration tab<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The best way to create an Admin Action is from a parent item. When you create an Admin Action from a parent item, the system automatically populates some fields with details from the parent item. An Application, Cycle, or Funding Action might be the parent of an Admin Action.<\/p>\n<p>In rare situations, you may need to create an Admin Action without a parent. For example, OSP may receive notification of funding before the research team has submitted an eGC1. In this case, you can create an Admin Action, convert it to a Funding Action, and then make the FA a child of the application as soon as the eGC1 is complete and In OSP.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"TLParent\">To create an Admin Action from the Tasklist of a Parent Item<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the appropriate tab for the parent item. For example, if the parent is an application, click the Applications tab.<\/li>\n<li>Locate the parent item on the tasklist, and click the <strong>Actions +<\/strong> button located in the right-most tasklist column.<\/li>\n<li>In the button&#8217;s drop-down menu, select <strong>Create New Action<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2222\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/spaerc_create_new_action_tasklist.jpg\" alt=\"create new action from the tasklist\" width=\"190\" height=\"268\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new Unidentified Admin Action will display. The system will assigned it a unique number with a prefix of AA and the action will inherit basic project details from its parent.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/spaerc_child_admin_action.jpg\" alt=\"create child action from tasklist\" width=\"671\" height=\"236\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Parent\">To create an Admin Action from within the Parent Item<\/h2>\n<p>If you have already opened the parent Application or Funding Action, select the Admin Actions tab, and click the <strong>Create New Admin Action<\/strong> link to create a new unidentified Admin Action.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2224\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/spaerc_application_admin_action_tab.jpg\" alt=\"application admin action tab\" width=\"603\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"AdminTab\">To create an Admin Action from the Administration Tab<\/h2>\n<p>Hover over the Administration tab, and select <strong>Create new Admin Action<\/strong> from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2226\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/spaerc_administration_tab.jpg\" alt=\"administration tab menu\" width=\"699\" height=\"154\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After you create the Admin Action, you can look up and select a parent for it. If the parent is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A new cycle, the system will copy the project details from the Admin Action to the cycle.<\/li>\n<li>An existing cycle, the cycle&#8217;s data values for Short Title, Sponsor, Org Receiving Funding, and Sponsor Award Number will replace those of the action.
