For any following periods, the Monthly Base Salary will be the prior period&#8217;s Adjusted Monthly Base Salary value.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For personnel that are paid hourly, the Starting Monthly Salary value, on the Line Setup modal, will be equal to the hourly rate of pay times the number of hours in a standard month (173.3 hours).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Salary Inflation Rate<\/strong> is the value specified in the Inflation &amp; Benefit Rates section of the Properties tab page.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Adjusted Monthly Base Salary<\/strong> is automatically calculated. It equals the Monthly Base Salary amount increased by the Salary Inflation Rate.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"effort\">Effort<\/h2>\n<p>The following image shows the Effort section of the Update Periods modal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10137\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/budget_update_periods_effort.jpg\" alt=\"effort section of update periods\" width=\"463\" height=\"317\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This section includes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Months<\/li>\n<li>% Effort<\/li>\n<li>Person Months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Months <\/strong>is auto-calculated based on two data values:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The length of the period in months<\/li>\n<li>Worker Position Type (calendar vs. academic) on the Line Setup modal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A budget period that includes a leap year will not affect the Months calculation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>% Effort<\/strong> is auto-calculated based on the initial % Effort entered on the Line Setup page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Person Months <\/strong>is automatically calculated and is equal to: Months times Effort.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"totals\">Period Salary Totals<\/h2>\n<p>The Period Salary Totals row shows the total for each period and in the far right Summary column, the total for the project.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Period Salary Total = Adjusted Monthly Base Salary times Person Months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Project Total = sum of all period totals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the budget has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/tools\/sage\/guide\/sage-budget\/legacy\/targets-caps-tab\/\">Salary Cap<\/a> enabled, this will be expandable section. It will also display the individual&#8217;s salary without the cap imposed.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"benefits\">Period Benefits Totals<\/h2>\n<p>The following image shows the Period Benefits Totals section. If you update the data on the Setup page, then this total will reflect the changes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2 id=\"sal-ben\">Total Salary + Benefits<\/h2>\n<p>The Total Salary + Benefits row shows the total for each period and in the far right Summary column, the total for the project. The values are the sum of the Period Salary Totals and the Period Benefits Totals.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"tuition\">Tuition<\/h2>\n<p>Tuition may be included for student personnel, which are UW Sub Object codes 33, 34, 43, 44, 51, 52, 53, 54, 91, 92, 93, and 94.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: UW Sub Object codes (88) Hourly Work Study and (89) Hourly Student Salary do <u>not<\/u> include Tuition Benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The following image show the Tuition section of the Update Periods modal with some example values. It is equal to the Academic Quarter Tuition Rate times the Number of Academic Quarters.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Summer Quarter Tuition Amount<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>The summer tuition amount for student personnel included in your budget.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Increase % (Academic &amp; Summer)<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>An inflation rate for tuition, which is applied to both Academic and Summer amounts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Total Tuition<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>This is a calculated field.
