Review details on <a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/submit-proposal\/#egc1-req\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/submit-proposal\/#egc1-req\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\">when an eGC1 is required<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the University of Washington\u2019s grant lifecycle, you would use SAGE during the Application phase, and to manage subawards.<\/p>\n<p>The eGC1 (electronic Grant and Contract form) is a <strong>required <\/strong>online UW form. It summarizes information about your grant application and routes it electronically for review and approval before submission to the sponsor.<\/p>\n<p>There are 4 stages to an eGC1 application:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li>The PI and\/or Research Administrator on the research team prepare the eGC1.\n<ul>\n<li>See the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/glossary\/principal-investigator-pi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Principal Investigator<\/a> glossary entry for definitions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The application routes to campus reviewers to review and approve.\n<ul>\n<li>See the <a href=\"\/research\/tools\/sage\/guide\/approvals\/approving-egc1s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SAGE Approvals<\/a> user guides for more information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The application has been marked as ready to be submitted to the sponsor and reaches a status of <strong>In OSP<\/strong> at least 3 business days prior to the sponsor\u2019s deadline (See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/policies\/gim-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GIM 19<\/a>). This allows sufficient time for OSP to review and approve the application.
