It helps to link related applications to one another (for example, a new application with all its revisions, continuations, and renewals) for improved tracking and reporting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> regardless of application type, if the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/tools\/sage\/guide\/egc1-forms\/egc1-details-page\/project-details#sponsored_program_activity_type\">Sponsored Program Activity Type<\/a> is &#8220;IPA\/JPA\/Staff Assignment&#8221; then the application is non-competing.<\/p>\n<p>Select the appropriate type from the drop-down menu. This is a required field.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9396\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/egc1_application_type_section.jpg\" alt=\"E G C one application type section\" width=\"614\" height=\"136\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"pre_app\">Pre-Application<\/h3>\n<p>When submitting a preliminary proposal that may lead to a full application. An eGC1 is only required when the pre-application requires authorized official (AO) submission\/sign-off or that contains budget details.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"new\">New<\/h3>\n<p>Use for brand new funded or unfunded applications.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"transfer\">Transfer from Another Institution<\/h3>\n<p>When a PI is transferring an existing application or award being transferred from another institution or entity to the UW.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"competing_rev\">Competing Revision<\/h3>\n<p>For a significant change to an existing project that requires application submission and sponsor approval.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"noncompeting_rev\">Non-Competing Revision<\/h3>\n<p>Replacing most or all of previously submitted proposal or to change PI on a proposal after submission but before an award. Review guidance on how to request a change of PI.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"resub\">Resubmission (Previously Denied)<\/h3>\n<p>When reapplying after a prior proposal was not awarded by the sponsor. This is a competing application.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"competing_renewal\">Competing Renewal<\/h3>\n<p>When applying to renew a project beyond its original period with a new competitive application. This is a competing application.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"noncompeting_renewal\">Non-Competing Renewal<\/h3>\n<p>Do not select this field. It no longer applies to eGC1s. Items that require OSP review on an active award should come to OSP on an Award Modification. Review the FAQ when do I need an eGC1? for more information.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"supp_ext\">Supplement and Extension<\/h3>\n<p>Use to request additional funds and time for an existing award that requires an application process.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"competing_supp\">Competing Supplement<\/h3>\n<p>Competitive application to request supplemental funds to an existing award.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"noncompeting_supp\">Non-Competing Supplement<\/h3>\n<p>Use to request additional funds without a new competition. For example: for an NIH administrative supplement.<\/p>\n<h3>Non-Award Agreement<\/h3>\n<h4 id=\"naa_new\" style=\"padding-left: 40px\">New<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Typically used for agreements that support a main (unfunded or funded) UW sponsored program. Example agreement types include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Confidentiality Agreement<\/li>\n<li>Data Use Agreement<\/li>\n<li>Material Transfer Agreement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">The following unfunded sponsored programs must also be submitted as a non-award agreement:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Unfunded Collaborative Agreement<\/li>\n<li>Unfunded Research Agreement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 id=\"naa_cont\" style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Continuation<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Use for amendments to existing, fully executed non-award agreements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><b>Note:<\/b> Select Non-Award Agreement (continuation) to extend an existing agreement beyond the initial term.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">When you select an NAA type, you will see a prompt that reads &#8220;Budget &amp; Fiscal Compliance entries will be cleared. Do you wish to Continue?&#8221; This is to remind you that nothing should be entered on the Budget &amp; Fiscal Compliance page. The system will delete any data that was there.<\/p>\n<p>The system will automatically check the After-the-Fact box for an NAA application type.<\/p>\n<p>For guidance on completing an NAA type application, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/setup\/collaborations\/agreement-types\/after-the-fact-egc1-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">After-the-FACT (ATF) eGC1 Process<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"atf\"><strong>After the Fact Application<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Check this box if the sponsor has already funded this application, or has sent an award letter, or provided an agreement for UW review.
