A MOD budget does not have to be attached to an award, however.<\/p>\n<p>Budgets connected to eGC1s cannot be connected to MODs.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"create_or_copy_sage_mod_budget\">Create or Copy a SAGE MOD Budget<\/h3>\n<p>Create a new MOD budget in SAGE Budget or copy and update an existing SAGE Budget. The level of detail required for the MOD budget should be tailored to the sponsor\u2019s requirements and campus unit needs.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"connect_your_sage_budget\">Connect your SAGE Budget<\/h3>\n<p>Once you have created or updated your SAGE MOD budget, connect your budget to the Modification Request. In the <b>Search for a budget<\/b> box you can type a budget title, budget number, or PI last name to display all eligible budgets matching your criteria.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"sage_budget_required\">SAGE Budget Required<\/h4>\n<p>If a budget is always required for your selected subcategories, you will be alerted, as shown in the following image.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/Connect-a-Budget-MOD.png\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 id=\"searching_for_sage_budget\">Searching for a SAGE Budget<\/h4>\n<p>Search for your budget by budget title, number or PI last name and then select your budget from the results list:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/Connect-a-Budget-MOD-search.png\" \/><br \/>\nAfter your budget is connected, the following information will display:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Budget name and BudgetID.<\/li>\n<li>Open Budget button.\n<ul>\n<li>This opens the connected SAGE Budget in a new browser tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A list of the Period(s) connected with start date and end date.\n<ul>\n<li>SAGE will automatically select Period 1.<\/li>\n<li>Select the periods the MOD request applies to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAGE-Central-Connect-Budget-Blurred.png\" alt=\"Connected budget with Period 1 selected.\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Note:<\/b> Any changes made within your SAGE Budget will sync to the MOD Budget &amp; Award Lines section, until the MOD Request is submitted. Changes can also be made to the budget when the MOD is in Returned status.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"change_the_connected_budget\">Disconnect the SAGE Budget<\/h2>\n<p>You can disconnect the connected SAGE Budget if the MOD\u2019s status is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Composing<\/li>\n<li>Returned, but only if OSP has not approved<\/li>\n<li>Withdrawn (available only when routing to an ad hoc approver)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A <b>Disconnect Budget<\/b> link will display to the right of the <b>Open Budget<\/b> link, as shown in the following image:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/SAGE-Central-Connect-Budget-Blurred.png\" \/><br \/>\nSelecting this link will open the <b>Disconnect Budget?<\/b> dialog window. The following image shows the dialog window:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/MOD-disconnect-budget.png\" \/><br \/>\nSelect the <strong>Disconnect<\/strong> button and the page will update to reflect that no budget is connected.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"view_award_budget\">View the Award Budget by Period<\/h2>\n<p>The <b>Award Budget By Period<\/b> portion of the Budget &amp; Award Lines form section includes a tab for each period selected, with its description, and an \u201cAll Periods\u201d tab on the left if more than one period was selected.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/AwardBudgetbyPeriod.png\" alt=\"Award Budget By Period Section\" \/><br \/>\nTo the right of the section are three buttons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Expand Budget:<\/b> opens the Award Line Details sections for the entire budget.<\/li>\n<li><b>Collapse Budget:<\/b> closes the Award Line Details sections for the entire budget.<\/li>\n<li><b>Customize Details View:<\/b> allows you to customize your view of budget data by toggling <b>Object Class Details<\/b> and <b>Award Line Details<\/b> on or off. The first row is the Primary Worksheet.<\/p>\n<p>The first column, Worksheet \/ Award Line, displays the following information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Worksheet Title<\/li>\n<li>F&amp;A Rate<\/li>\n<li>Base Type<\/li>\n<li>Location<\/li>\n<li>Sponsored Program Activity Type<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Selecting the blue caret (&gt;) to the left of the worksheet title displays the Object Class with Ledger details and the Award Line Details section for that individual award line. See detail below.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining columns display the costs for that category:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total Direct Costs<\/li>\n<li>Costs Subject to F&amp;A<\/li>\n<li>Total F&amp;A<\/li>\n<li>Fees<\/li>\n<li>Total Costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For a single Period, there is a Period Total row. For the All Periods view, there are Budget Total, Sponsor Awarded Total, and Difference rows.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"obj_class\">Object Class and Spend Category Details<\/h3>\n<p>This section displays when the Expand Budget button is selected. It shows a breakdown of the ASR\u2019s linked budget amounts by the categories that will integrate to the Workday plan.
