GCA is a unit within Finance &amp; Facilities\u2019 Office of Financial Management.<\/li>\n<li><strong>CoMotion<\/strong> works with researchers to deliver innovations to the right markets, providing the opportunities for recognition, distribution and utilization of the work to its full potential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Simplified MyResearch Project Lifecycle<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/tools\/sage\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/01\/Research-lifecycle-main-t1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4754\" src=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/tools\/sage\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/01\/Research-lifecycle-main-t1-300x300.png\" alt=\"Graphic displaying a circle with four quadrants. The activities may be programmatic (scientific) or administrative in nature, or both. They begin with forming a hypothesis or research question; conclude with final financial reports and scientific publications. In most cases, a new research project begins its Lifecycle based on a hypothesis or question developed from the results of a previous project. Grants typically follow four major phases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Plan and Propose<\/strong> from the development of a sponsored research project to final proposal submission.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Setup<\/strong> the infrastructure for successful management of your award.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Manage<\/strong> award funds, reporting, and post-award changes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Closeout<\/strong> the final financial and research reporting, dissemination of data, and records retention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>UW&#8217;s Online Grant Tools<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>MyResearch<\/strong> is a web-based tool designed to assist you in your research administration activities. It currently includes two major features: Funding Status and Training Transcript.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SAGE<\/strong>\u00a0(System to Administer Grants Electronically) is the web-based system used by faculty, administrators and staff to submit funding applications for consideration, route them electronically for approval, request advance budget numbers, and initiate subawards. SAGE also includes: SAGE Budget,\u00a0Grant Runner,\u00a0Approvals,\u00a0Advances and Subawards.<\/li>\n<li><strong>FIDS<\/strong>\u00a0(Financial Interest Disclosure System) is a web-based tool that investigators use to electronically submit their Significant Financial Interest (SFI) disclosures.<\/li>\n<li><strong>AUMS<\/strong>\u00a0(Animal Use Medical Screening) is an online tool which researchers who work with animals use to request an evaluation for potential health risks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Training<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/training\/about-core\/\">CORE, the Collaborative for Research Education<\/a>, presents regularly-scheduled trainings to help faculty and administrators expand their skill sets and build research programs. Courses are free of charge, and new courses are added frequently. The program is developed collaboratively with central offices and volunteers, and taught by subject matter experts. You can earn a certificate in Research Administration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>SAGE System Training<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>In collaboration with CORE, ORIS offers courses that train UW researchers and administrators on how to use the SAGE system for grant proposal submissions and financial disclosures. These include:<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/training\/about-core\/core-course-catalog\/#ORIS101\">SAGE: Creating and Submitting eGC1s<\/a> &#8211; Course offered quarterly<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/training\/about-core\/core-course-catalog\/#ORIS103\">SAGE Budget<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Course offered quarterly<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/training\/about-core\/core-course-catalog\/#ORIS102\">SAGE: Creating NIH Proposals in Grant Runner<\/a> &#8211; Course offered quarterly<\/li>\n<li>FIDS: Disclosing Financial Interests &#8211; Course offered intermittently in response to demand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Required Training<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>You can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/required-training\/\">Required Training tool<\/a> to identify which trainings are required for researchers to comply with external sponsor and internal requirements and\/or reduce risk to the researcher. The trainings that an investigator will be required to take depends on what their research involves, such as Animal Subjects, Clinical Research, HIPAA and others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Other Resources<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>UW Research<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/\">Research Website<\/a>\u00a0to find a hub of information and links for researchers and administrators. Find links to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/compliance\/\">compliance<\/a> and support offices along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/resources\/funding-opportunities\/\">funding opportunities<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>MRAM (Monthly Research Administrators Meeting)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/manage-your-office-of-research-subscriptions\/#mram\">MRAM<\/a> is the main forum for communicating new information about grant tools, policies, compliance issues, and procedures. Join their mailing list and attend their meetings virtually or in person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>ORIS News<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Learn about updates to grant systems and ORIS\u2019s latest developments.
