Mourning a loss for our community

Ana Mari Cauce

As we have feared, and as the Seattle police today confirmed, tragically, two UW students, Kornkamon Leenawarat and Thiti-On Chotechuangsab, died in their apartment near the Seattle campus earlier this week. Both were students in the UW School of Law Masters of Law program. This is a heartbreaking loss for their families, friends and our entire community. I offer condolences on behalf of our University to everyone who is grieving as a result of this tragedy.

The Seattle Police Department has made clear that this was an incident between these individuals and that there is no risk to the broader community. The effects of a tragedy like this, however, can be far reaching, so I encourage any member of the UW community who needs comfort or assistance to contact the UW Counseling Center or to visit our Student Life site or Safe Campus for more resources.
