Parents & Families

The boundless opportunities your student can access to energize their mind, body and spirit are among the top reasons many students and their families choose the UW. But with nearly one thousand student led organizations, numerous ways to stay active and seemingly infinite opportunities to engage in the life of the campus and community, it may be hard for your student to decide where to start. Here are a few ideas:

Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW)

The Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW) serves as the undergraduate student government for UW Seattle students, providing services, advocating for student concerns and offering exciting employment and volunteer opportunities that help students build skills and experience they can carry on into life after graduation.

Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)

Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) play a significant role for students to develop interpersonal skills, enhance their learning environment, prepare to live in a diverse society, and contribute to a global community. RSO Community is the UW’s online portal for student clubs and organizations, where you and your student can find, learn more about, and communicate directly with RSOs.

UW Recreation

UW Recreation provides safe, accessible and dynamic recreation experiences to engage students in growth and wellbeing. Whatever your student’s fitness or experience level, UW Recreation’s dedicated staff are here to support them in exploring a wide and ever-growing variety of exercise, sports and fitness opportunities in state of art indoor and outdoor facilities, amidst the dramatic natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
