A message from Denzil Suite, Vice President for Student Life

Move-in days and the beginning of fall quarter are almost here! We look forward to welcoming first-year students, parents and families to campus during this momentous time. Fall is one of my favorite times of year, as new and returning students bring the energy back into our campus.

I’m so proud to be a part of the UW community, where students have limitless opportunities to learn and grow, both in the classroom and beyond. As we prepare for a new school year, I invite you to explore recent examples of the incredible Husky Experience.

In June, we saw the highest graduation participation ever, with 5,711 graduates and 45,000 attendees at Commencement in Husky Stadium.

Opening this fall on West Campus is Area 01, a new interdisciplinary learning destination in Maple Hall that provides UW residential students and their colleagues a space to transform concepts and ideas into tangible realities.

Additionally, the new Career Center @ Engineering, a branch of the UW Career Center housed in the College of Engineering, is scheduled to open to students in fall quarter. Located in Loew Hall, it will function as a single entry point for employers seeking to hire new engineering professionals.

These examples are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all of the exciting and innovative developments happening in our community. Whether your student is new to the UW, or has already completed several quarters, this next chapter is about continuing to make the most of their educational experience, taking advantage of all that the University offers, both inside and outside the classroom.

As always, thank you your partnership in your student’s education at the UW. I look forward to seeing you on campus in the coming year, especially at our inaugural Parent & Family Weekend, April 8-10, 2016.

Go Huskies!
