Information on Reservation Requests

Events must fit within the intended use and core principles of the space. These are:

  • Involve and engage community partners, prioritizing community-informed work that aligns with the mission of the University of Washington
  • Foster and engage in just and equitable relationships between the community and the UW
  • Be transparent and accountable in a spirit of mutuality and solidarity

In order to reserve a space at the Commons, you must first submit an online request using the Campus request form or Community request form. This represents a request ONLY and does not guarantee you a space. The information you provide will be used to determine whether we are able to accommodate your request. All events must align with our core principles and intended use for the space.

Once your request has been submitted, please wait for an email response from othellocommons@uw.edu. Requests are processed within 1-2 weeks. A request is necessary not only to provide you the best suitable space, but also for correct documentation and statistical reporting. Your reservation is finalized once you receive an official confirmation email from othellocommons@uw.edu. Please do not begin to advertise your event until your request has been official confirmed. If all required items are not submitted in a timely manner, your event reservation may be cancelled.

Please note that the Commons staff is not responsible for advertising your event for you and that staff are often uninformed about any costs for attendance and other general information about your event (i.e. name of performers, types of refreshments, or precise schedule of event). If you are interested in posting flyers around the neighborhood, we have provided a list of places here.
