Curriculum Vitae (12K PDF*)

As a full-time research scientist with the Office of Educational Assessment since 2002, Jon Peterson provides research, evaluation, and assessment services to UW faculty, departments, and organizations. His primary focus is supporting department-driven assessment of student learning initiatives and assisting in the re-design of the APTP Math Placement testing system. Jon directed the UW Senior Research Study, a multi-department assessment project that examines the research that students do as part of their normal progress through their undergraduate programs and the ways in which students learn to conduct research in their disciplines. At the University of Michigan, he worked as a research statistician for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), as well as a program assistant for the residential component of UROP. In these graduate student positions he helped devise research methodology, construct survey instruments, and conduct statistical analyses to assess student learning outcomes. As an alumnus of the University of Washington, he worked closely with the New Student Programs Division as a Freshman Interest Group Peer Instructor, Orientation Leader, Advising Group Instructor, and as a Mary Gates Leadership Grant Recipient.
