Expertise: Developing low-cost sensors to detect harmful algal blooms

Daniel Grünbaum is a biological oceanographer who studies how even the smallest organisms can have significant implications for large systems. More specifically, he looks at how short-term, small-scale processes, like the behaviors of individual fish or planktonic larvae, can scale up to have long-term, large-scale changes in a population’s size or distribution.
