SpaceScout Offers More Study Spaces: For All UW Campuses

UW students on all three campuses now have more study spaces to choose from when using the UW’s SpaceScout Web app to discover their perfect study spot. At UW Seattle, 50 more spaces have been added for a total of 250 study spots. UW Bothell students now can explore nearly 70 spaces, while UW Tacoma students have 68 spaces to consider. MediaAMP Media Manager for Canvas Coming in March; Info Session Feb. 23

UW instructors who use the Canvas learning management system for their courses will soon have more options for integrating audio and video content by using fee-based MediaAMP, the cloud-based content-sharing tool offered by UW-IT. This solution works well for people with existing media collections as well as for those who record content with Panopto, Camtasia, Mediasite and many other systems. Adobe at the UW: Changes Effective February 27

Adobe recently announced licensing changes for Creative Suite, effective February 27, 2015, that moves it to a subscription-based service. While ongoing negotiations by the UW with Adobe have yet to reach a cost-effective solution for an Adobe Creative Cloud campus license, departments have several options. They can continue to use Creative Suite 6, or adopt Adobe’s new per device and/or named user licensing model, or purchase free or low-cost alternatives. Get details.

UW Employees: Get Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus at No Cost

UW faculty and staff now have the same free access to Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus as UW students. The UW’s subscription provides online distribution of Office applications for installation on up to five PCs or Macs and up to five Windows tablets, iPads or smartphones—on both personal and UW-owned computers and devices. It includes the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, Lync and Access. On this mobile friendly, accessible site you can request access to enterprise reports, analytics and data, browse online and workshop training or join a user group, and subscribe to news and alerts.
