Included on this page is basic information to help you support your own Smartphone or device. These instructions are general, and may not work on every device. If you need more help, please sign up for support.

Exchange Online / Office 365

Setup instructions

Go to your phones setting menu-

iPhone-Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars/Add Account/Microsoft Exchange,Exchange

DROID-Applications/Settings/Accounts and sync/Add account/Exchange,Corporate

Windows Phone-Swish to the right/Settings/Email + Accounts/Add account/Exchange ActiveSync

Enter the following information:

  • Email address: your complete email address such as somebody@uw.edu
  • Password: your uwnetid password
  • Sever address: outlook.office365.com
  • Domain: netid (optional)
  • Username: use your complete email address such as somebody@uw.edu
  • Select “Use  SSL connection”

        

Basic Mail Setup Information - All Devices

 

UW Google Apps Passwords

Use your UW NetID password when accessing the UW Google Apps Email website. However, if you'd like to use a desktop email program or mobile device to read your Google Apps Email, you will need to set a separate password through the Manage UW Google Apps webpage.

When using a desktop email program or mobile device, use @uw.edu with your UW Google Apps password to login.

UW Exchange Settings

  • Email address: enter your complete email address such as somebody@uw.edu
  • Password: your uwnetid password
  • Sever address: exchange.washington.edu
  • Domain: netid
  • Username: your netid
  • Select “Use  SSL connection”
  • Some devices may require you to insert netid in front of  your User Name

Select OK if Exchange ActiveSync asks you to accept the UW's enforcement of policies.

If you are setting up UWPN, AMC, or other type of Exchange account, please ask your departmental IT folks for proper setup information.

Deskmail Settings

IMAP Incoming Server Settings:

-User Name: your uwnetid
-Password: your uwnetid password
-IMAP Server/Host Name: your uwnetid.deskmail.washington.edu
-Security type: SSL

-Server port 993

IMAP Outgoing Server Settings:

-Username: your uwnetid
-Password: your uwnetid password
-SMTP Server/Host Name: smtp.uw.edu
-Security type: SSL

-Server port settings can vary by device, try 465 or 587

If you do not configure outgoing mail correctly, you may be able to receive mail, but find that your outgoing messages stick in your outbox.

Also if your device allows it, configure the "root" folder by typing in "mail". Without it, you may not be able to view all of your folders.
