Informed choice home

Dear Colleagues,

We write to bring to your attention more information about the unionization effort that is available to you on the Informed Choice website. We continue to believe that accurate information is essential to making this critical choice.

New to the site is a Fact Check regarding recent claims made by various sources in the faculty unionization campaign. It provides information about the UW’s faculty composition, undergraduate tuition, private donations, state support and federal research funding.

The frequently asked questions section has been updated with new material responding to your questions about basic facts, like the process of unionization, voting, eligibility, dues and more.

A new section also provides abstracts and citations to academic articles about faculty unionization that may be of interest to you.

Lastly, you will find a Fact Sheet about SEIU Local 925. We have heard many questions asking who they are, what they do, and their experience representing higher education, and we have tried to provide factual answers to these questions.

Additionally, we want to remind you about two other websites you may want to visit:

UWExcellence.org is run by UW faculty and makes the case against unionization.

UWFacultyForward.org is a joint AAUP/SEIU effort, and makes the case in favor of unionization.

As always, we welcome hearing from you and would be happy to answer your questions and comments.

We will continue to provide you with information and hope you will check the Informed Choice website regularly for updates: http://uw.edu/informedchoice

Sincerely,

Ana Mari Cauce Jerry Baldasty
