Innertube Basketball Leagues

ACTIVITY

The game is played like traditional basketball except players are sitting in an innertube while floating in the pool.  Individuals without a team, as well as those with established teams are encouraged to try this novelty sport. A co-rec league is offered and teams consist of six players (3 women, 3 men).  Teams will play 3 weeks of round robin league play followed by a single elimination tournament.

ENTRY PROCEDURES:

  1. Participants must submit $100 payment & register a team at reg.recreation.uw.edu prior to the entry deadline. Entries will be taken on-line on a first come first serve basis beginning December 26.
  2. You will receive an access code to our team management site in your confirmation email, after checkout.  For more information on how to complete rosters and view schedules, please go to the Team Management tab.  Entries will be accepted after the deadline if space is available. The seeding of teams into the playoffs will be determined by league standings with various divisions tiered by win-loss records. Teams will be able to select their first round playoffs games on Team Management using staggered access to bracket based on your record.

COMPETITIVE DIVISIONS

One open division will be offered.

EQUIPMENT

Swim suits and towels are not available at Hec Ed Pool; innertubes and other game equipment will be provided.

 

FREE AGENTS

The free agent program assists in helping individuals to become participants on teams even if they don’t know enough people on campus to form a team. All it takes is signing up on a free agent on our Team Management site and attending the free agent meeting.

FREE AGENT MEETING

Thursday, January 17, at 4:00PM, Lounge, IMA Building. The meeting agenda will include the following topics: player eligibility, schedule information, protest procedures, rules review, and other important information that team captains are responsible for knowing. Team captains and players are asked to take the online quiz, covering program policies and league rules captains are responsible for knowing. Captains may elect to attend meeting if they choose to. The meeting is expected to last 30-45 minutes.

ELIGIBILITY

All Winter 2019 UW Seattle, Bothell, Tacoma students, faculty and staff IMA members are eligible. Faculty/Staff members must purchase an annual or quarterly IMA membership or pay the $40 Intramural Sports Membership for OUTDOOR SPORTS ONLY. Check the Intramural Sports Handbook for additional eligibility requirements.  Participants are limited to playing on only one team.

SPORTS OFFICIALS NEEDED

Team captains are encouraged to send a person to be trained as an official.  For further information contact the Intramural Manager 543-9436 or e-mail at lbowden@uw.edu.

AWARDS

Members of the championship teams in each division will receive Intramural Championship T-shirts.
