5 v 5 Soccer Tournament

ACTIVITY

An exciting, fast moving, action filled tournament for Open teams (no gender specific rules or player ratio requirements and is recreational in nature).  Each team will consist of five players. Rosters are limited to 10 players. The tournament will use modified rules and will be played on smaller fields at the IMA outdoor fields.  Teams will be scheduled for three preliminary games, followed by single elimination playoffs.

Shirt Rule:  Teams will be designated as home (white colored shirt) and away (dark colored shirt) as indicated on the schedules. Teams are responsible for wearing the appropriate colored shirt each game.  Team captain’s need to check the schedules carefully.

$75.00 per team

ENTRY DEADLINE  

Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 5:00PM

  1. Participants must submit $75 payment & register a team at reg.recreation.uw.edu prior to the entry deadline. Entries will be taken on-line on a first come first serve basis beginning December 26.
  2. You will receive an access code to our team management site in your confirmation email, after checkout.  For more information on how to complete rosters and view schedules, please go to the Team Management tab.  Entries will be accepted after the deadline if space is available. The seeding of teams into the playoffs will be determined by league standings with various divisions tiered by win-loss records. Teams will be able to select their first round playoffs games on Team Management using staggered access to bracket based on your record.

COMPETITIVE DIVISIONS

Cascade Division:

This division is for teams seeking a high level of competition.  High skill level players such as former intercollegiate athletes, high school, and Club players must play in this division.

Rainier Division:

This is a recreational division and offers a less competitive environment for teams that desire to participate in a more relaxed atmosphere.  Competition is open to undergraduate students only.

Open Division:

No gender specific rules or player ratio requirements, recreational in nature

 

FREE AGENTS

The free agent program assists in helping individuals to become participants on teams even if they don’t know enough people on campus to form a team. All it takes is signing up on a free agent on our Team Management site and attending the free agent meeting.

FREE AGENT MEETING

Thursday, January 10, at 4:00PM, Lounge, IMA Building. The meeting agenda will include the following topics: player eligibility, schedule information, protest procedures, rules review, and other important information that team captains are responsible for knowing. Team captains and players are asked to take the on-line quiz, covering program policies and league rules captains are responsible for knowing. Captains may elect to attend meeting if they choose to. The meeting is expected to last 30-45 minutes.

ELIGIBILITY

All Winter 2019 UW Seattle, Bothell, Tacoma students, faculty and staff IMA members are eligible. Faculty/Staff members must purchase an annual or quarterly IMA membership or pay the $40 Intramural Sports Membership for OUTDOOR SPORTS ONLY. Players may participate on only one men’s or open team. Current intercollegiate varsity soccer players are not eligible. Former intercollegiate players are eligible with some restrictions. UW Soccer Club players must play in the highest skill division offered when eligible. Check the Intramural Sports Handbook for additional eligibility requirements.

AWARDS

Members of the championship teams in each division will receive Intramural Championship T-shirts.

SPORTS OFFICIALS NEEDED

Team captains are encouraged to send a person to be trained as an official.  For further information contact the Intramural Manager 543-9436 or e-mail at lbowden@uw.edu.

EQUIPMENT

Shoes suitable for artificial surfaces and shin guards are required.
