RECREATION FAIR

Attend the Recreation Fair to learn more about many aspects of our recreation programs. Learn about clubs, stop into the IMA for fun, or join us at a booth to learn how to sign up for fitness classes, outdoor trips, intramural sports, and more!

Clubs at the Rec Fair

Interested in joining a club? Here is your chance to learn about UW Recreation’s 39 unique Rec Clubs. From Archery to Rowing, Tae Kwon Do to Volleyball, there is a club for everyone. Additionally, UW Recreation offers a variety of programs.

IMA Fun & Games at the Rec Fair

Come explore the IMA (Intramural Activities Building) and take part in all that UW Recreation has to offer! Head down for fun and join the action with drop-in activities or free classes!

Hip Hop Dance Party!  

Join three of our UW Recreation dance instructors for a fun and beginner friendly Hip Hop dance routine! No pre-registration required.

Untangle Your Stress

Are you stressed out about stress? Join UW Recreation Mindfulness in an interactive experience that will support you in understanding the causes of stress and how you can better engage with them more skillfully throughout your year. Dress for comfort as some light movement will be guided. Everyone is welcome!

Yoga Play

Did you know that yoga doesn’t have to be so serious? Sometimes being playful is the best medicine for stress or an overly negative mind. Come with an open mind as you are guided through yoga with a lighter spin. Move your body, laugh, and maybe make a little noise (you can do this, trust us!)

No prior yoga experience required. All body types, shapes, sizes, and identities are welcome! Bring a yoga mat if you have one, although we will have some on hand.

Meditation

Join UW Recreation Mindfulness for an outdoor meditation experience. Did you know that meditation doesn’t require a quiet mind or a still body? Come explore meditation basics, health benefits, and a few techniques you can utilize to support your mental health and well-being throughout the year!

Bonus: meet a few new people in a non-pressuring environment, make a friend! Bring a towel or something else that you can sit on if the ground is a little damp. We will also be doing some practices in a standing position.

Mindful Movement

Join UW Recreation Mindfulness for a movement break. Breathe, destress, and move your body! All body shapes, sizes, orientations and identities welcome! No prior experience with yoga needed. We will be outdoors light rain or shine so bring layers and/or sun protection.

Yoga Journey

Yoga is often called a meditation-in-motion where you can shift the focus of your mind into the present moment and just experience, instead of worry or stress. Join us for a yoga journey as you tune into your breath, move with delightful music, and celebrate the beginning of your adventure at UW. Bring an open mind, yoga mat or towel (we will have some mats available for borrow), and a desire to move your body.

INTRAMURALS

Intramurals participants play bocce ball on a Recreation field.UW Intramurals – Lawn Games

Come play games for FREE with UW Intramurals. Individuals or teams of 2 can play against others in a variety of games including Spikeball, Cornhole, Kan Jam, and Bocce Ball. Games are available on first come first serve; registration not required.

Washington Rocks!

An Overview of Washington Rock Climbing From Recreation to Rainier!

Event Description: Washington is home to some of the most diverse climbing and mountaineering in the country.  From Husky Rock (the first artificial climbing structure built on a university campus) to, “The American Alps” and everywhere in-between.  We will be showing interactive maps and medias showcasing the best of what Washington has to offer.  Including an overview the classes and climbing opportunities at UWild Adventures Crags Climbing Center within the IMA. Open Q & A to follow the presentation!
