Give to the UW
Class of 2009 Endowment for Odegaard Library
Senior Class Gift archive – open fund
UW students all share a common precious campus resource: the University Libraries. Though no one gets a degree from the library, all undergraduates benefit from the wealth of resources and information available, especially in our undergraduate-specific building: the Odegaard Undergraduate Library.
In 2008, a survey of students and library users indicated that improvements to the library were essential to meet the academic needs of undergraduates. Some of these suggestions included increasing the number of computer stations and electrical outlets, updating and increasing the amount of furniture, and adding to the media collection.
Unfortunately, many of these basic improvements are overlooked as budgets are diminished and campus-wide priorities must be set. The Class of 2009 created this endowment to make the following improvements year after year:
- Increased access to computers
- Furnishings and heavily-used student study areas
- Collections, including the media center
- Technology improvements
- Support for under-funded programs, such as the OUGL Writing and Research Center
