New Student Convocation

Incoming Students – Let’s Have Some Fun!

Every year at Convocation we all learn the school song, Rise Up With Pride For Washington, and sing it. This year we like you to show us your Husky pride and record yourself – and any family and friends in your “bubble” – singing the school song below.  We’ll try to get you and your friends on the screen at the Convocation ceremony.  Don’t worry – you won’t be alone!

Here’s how to join the fun.

Step 1: Take a video of yourself on your cell phone singing along with the Mp3 file that is embedded below – a recording of the school song. The notes of the melody are played by the piano on this recording and the words are below.

The video should be well lit, and shot oriented horizontally in front of a solid colored background, like a wall or something similar.  Like this:

Use  in-ear headphones to follow the music and do your best to hide them with hair, or have the cord go behind your back.

Step 2: Send your video via WeTransfer.com to our recording engineer, Travis Warner, at travis@traviswarner.com.  Please send your video by this Friday, Sept. 17.

Here’s the words to the song:

Rise Up with Pride for Washington

Lyrics by Catherine Henderson Class of 2008. Music by Bill Conti.

Rise up with pride for Washington
For purple and for gold
From far and wide we meet as one
As Huskies proud and bold

Chorus:
Washington we hail to thee
Honor, truth, integrity
Forever shine from lake to shore
Your light upon us ever more.

Rise up with pride for Washington
Together hand in hand
We will proclaim our loyalty
In song throughout the land

Chorus:
Washington we hail to thee
Honor, truth, integrity
Forever shine from lake to shore
Your light upon us ever more.

Have fun singing – we look forward to seeing you on the screen!
