The following list of approved legislation appears in chronological order by date, and includes three kinds of Senate actions:

Class A Legislation 132:  Updates to the Faculty Code  Result:  Approved by 90.74% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Young and became effective on March 25, 2015.

Class B Legislation 180:  Updates to Scholastic Regulations Chapters 101-117  Result:  Received three objections from faculty; received final approval from President Young and became effective on February 27, 2014.

Class A Legislation 131:  A Statement of Principle: Academic Freedom and Responsibility  Result:  Approved by 95.83% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Young and became effective on January 9, 2014.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution concerning University of Washington International & English Language Programs Extension Lecturers.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on December 5, 2013.

Class A Legislation 130:  Modifying Procedures and Promotions  Result:  Approved by 89.52% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Young and became effective on
June 14, 2013.

Class B Legislation 179:  Revisions of Scholastic Regulations to create a diversity graduation requirement for undergraduates.  Result:  Received twenty-one objections from faculty; received final approval from President Young and became effective on May 24, 2013.

Class B Legislation 178:  Revisions of Scholastic Regulations related to categories of matriculated students.  Result:  Received eight objections from faculty; received final approval from President Young and became effective on May 24, 2013.

Class A Legislation 129:  Changes to “Without Tenure” Appointment Term Length.  Result:  Approved by 85.48% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Young and became effective on
April 16, 2013.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Addressing Faculty Demographic Concerns.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on
November 29, 2012.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution of Appreciation, Susan Astley, Faculty Senate Chair.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on May 17, 2012.

Class A Legislation:  Revisions related to part time lecturer appointments.  Result:  Approved by 90.39% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Young and became effective on
June 11, 2012.

Class A Legislation:  Revision delegating authority for select faculty appointments.  Result:  Approved by 79.00% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Young and became effective on
June 11, 2012.

Class A Legislation:  Revision Related to Appointment and Promotion of Faculty Members.  Result:  Approved by 77.61% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Young and became effective on June 11, 2012.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning Repairing Shared Governance and the Faculty Salary Policy.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on December 1, 2011.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning the Provost Search Process.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on
December 1, 2011.

Class A Legislation:  Revision Related to Lecturer and Instructor Issues.  Result:  Approved by 88.58% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Young and became effective on July 5, 2011.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution of Appreciation, Phyllis Wise, University President.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on
May 19, 2011.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution of Appreciation, James "JW" Harrington, Faculty Senate Chair.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on May 19, 2011.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning the Faculty Fund for Library Excellence.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on March 10, 2011.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Regarding Faculty Salary Policy.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on June 3, 2010.

Class A Legislation:  Revision of Faculty Council Structure (FCTL). Result:  Approved by 94.03% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on May 27, 2010.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Regarding Faculty Salary Policy (Proposed Extension of EO 29).  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on May 20, 2010.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution of Appreciation, David Lovell, Senate Committee on Planning and Budgeting Chair.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on May 20, 2010.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution of Appreciation, Mark Emmert, University President.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on May 20, 2010.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution of Appreciation, Bruce Balick, Faculty Senate Chair.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on May 20, 2010.

Class B Legislation:  Revisions related to Scholastic Regulations.  Result:  Received three objections from faculty; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on April 14, 2010.

Class A Legislation:  Revision of the Faculty Senate Structure. Result:  Approved by 85.44% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on April 5, 2010.

Class A Legislation:  Elimination of the Faculty Council on University Relations. Result:  Approved by 92.84% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on April 16, 2010.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning Affordable Textbooks.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on March 11, 2010.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution in Support of Student Involvement in Higher Education Advocacy Day.  Result:  Received Senate Executive Committee Approval on January 11, 2010.

Class B Legislation:  Procedures related to Honorary Degrees.  Result:  Received no objections from faculty; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on January 13, 2010.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning Proposal for a Special Committee on Honorary Degrees.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on December 3, 2009.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning Observance of Central Cultural and Religious Practices.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on October 29, 2009.

Class A Legislation:  Revision of Conciliatory Proceedings. Result:  Approved by 94.21% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on June 4, 2009.

Class A Legislation:  Revision of Reorganization, Consolidation and Elimination of Programs Procedures.  Result:  Approved by 88.27% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on June 4, 2009.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution in Support of the University of Washington Hosting Tent City III.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on May 21, 2009.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning Student Photo Class Lists.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on April 23, 2009.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning Scholarly Publishing Alternatives and Authors' Rights.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on April 23, 2009.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning Live Webcams on University of Washington Websites.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on January 29, 2009.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning Faculty Support for the Washington Student Lobby and its Petition Campaign.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on

Class B Legislation:  Undergraduate Cross Campus Enrollment Policy.  Result:  Received 1 objection from faculty; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on May 29, 2008.

Class C Resolution:  Resolution Concerning UW Environmental Stewardship.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on
April 24, 2008.

Class C Resolution:  Concerning Fostering Multi-Unit Interdisciplinary Research.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on March 13, 2008.

Class C Resolution:  Supporting Student Involvement in Lobby Day.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on January 31, 2008.

Class A Legislation:  Housekeeping legislation correcting an out-dated section of the Code and under "Establishment of Faculty Groups," adding Global Health to Group 7.  Result:  Approved by 97.07% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on January 1, 2008.

Class A Legislation:  Procedures for removal of Faculty Senate Officers and the Secretary of the Faculty  Result:  Approved by 94.79% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on January 1, 2008.

Class C Resolution:  Support of Providing Faculty Experience on the Board of Regents. Results:  Received Faculty Senate Approval on November 29, 2007.

Class C Resolution:  Support of the UW’s Focus the Nation Event (Focus the Nation Web Site). Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on November 29, 2007.

Class B Legislation:  Change in the University Handbook:  WAC 478-120, related to the Student Conduct Code.  Result:  Received 5 objections from faculty; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on June 29, 2007.

Class A Legislation:  Change procedures for appointing the Secretary of the Faculty.  Result:  Approved by 96.61% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on June 15, 2007.

Class A Legislation:  Clarify the definition of a campus and distinguish campuses from schools and colleges Results:  Approved by 94.92% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on June 15, 2007.

Class C Resolution:  Dependent Tuition Waivers.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on May 24, 2007.

Class C Resolution:  Automatic Enrollment in UW Retirement Plans.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on May 24, 2007.

Class C Resolution:  Endorsement of the Husky Tee Project.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on April 26, 2007.

Class B Legislation:  Distance Learning Course Indicators.   Result:  Received 149 objections from faculty; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on April 6, 2007.

Class C Resolution:  Supporting Student Involvement in Lobby Day.

Class C Resolution:  Principles of State Higher Education Policy.

Class A Legislation:  Name and Status Change for the Special Committee on Faculty Women and Special Committee on Minority Faculty Affairs.  Result:  Approved by 92.76% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on June 9, 2005.

Class C Resolution:  Support for Student Involvement in Lobby Day.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on January 27, 2005.

Class A Legislation:  Housekeeping Amendments to Faculty Senate Operations.  Result:  Approved by 94.99% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on February 24, 2005.

Class B Legislation:  Acceptance of Transfer Credits.
Result:  Received two objections from faculty; received final approval from President Emmert and became effective on January 24, 2005.

Class C Resolution:  Endorse the Framework for Comprehensive Athletics Reform from the Coalition on Intercollegiate Athletics (COIA). Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on December 2, 2004.

Class C Resolution:  Acknowledge President Huntsman's University Service.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on May 13, 2004.

Class A Legislation:  Terms of Faculty Senate Officers. Results:  Approved by 96.52% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Huntsman and became effective on June 1, 2004.

Class A Legislation:  Change Chair of the Senate Committee on Planning and Budgeting.  Result:  Approved by 92.51 % of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Huntsman and became effective on June 1, 2004.

Class C Resolution:  Voter Registration.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on May 13, 2004.

Class C Resolution:  Non-faculty Collective Bargaining Negotiations.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on May 13, 2004.

Class B Legislation:  Faculty Deputy Legislative Representative.   Result:  Received one objection from faculty; received final approval from President Huntsman and became effective on April 22, 2004.

Class C Resolution:  Increase in Transportation Fees.
Result: Received Faculty Senate approval on April 22, 2004.

Class C Resolution:  Finalists for Presidential Search.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on March 11, 2004.

Class C Resolution:  NIH and Academic Freedom.

Class A Legislation:  Designation of Emeriti Faculty. Result:  Approved by 96.14 % of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President Huntsman and became effective on June 5, 2003.

Class B Legislation:  Grades, Honors and Scholarship.  Result:  Received four objections from faculty; received final approval from President McCormick and became effective on June 20, 2003.

Class C Resolution:  Day of Learning.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on March 13, 2003.

Class C Resolution:  Faculty Representation on the Presidential Search Committee.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on December 5, 2002.

Class C Resolution:  Oversight of Funds from Non-state Sources.
Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on October 24, 2002.

Class C Resolution:  Endorsement of the SEIU Local / Classified Staff Association Regarding Health Care Costs.  Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on October 24, 2002.

Class A Legislation:  Regular Faculty Conferences.  Result:  Approved by 70.8 % of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President McCormick and became effective on June 20, 2002.

Class A Legislation:  Lecturer Titles and Appointment Duration.

Class C Resolution:  Intent of the Faculty Salary Policy.

Class B Legislation:  Honorary Degrees.  Result:  Received six objections from faculty; received final approval from President McCormick and became effective on February 1, 2002.

Class B Legislation:  Distance Learning.  Result:  Received no objections from faculty; received final approval from President McCormick and became effective on November 26, 2001.

Class C Resolution:  Removal of Temporary Building.

Result:  Approved by 72% of the faculty casting votes; received final approval from President McCormick and became effective on March 6, 2001.

Class C Resolution:  Urge Administration to Begin Bargaining with GSEAC/UAW.   Result:  Received Faculty Senate approval on
November 14, 2000.
