How can I purchase my U-PASS?

Quarterly and Annual U-PASSes can be purchased at Commuter Services. Once the University transitions to U-PASS powered by ORCA, your U-PASS will be activated 24-48 hours after purchase. Customers will be responsible for paying their own fare between purchase and activation on transit. If you have an Annual U-PASS on payroll deduction you can still renew your U-PASS through the Annual Renewal process each spring.

When can I purchase my U-PASS?

U-PASS sales will remain largely the same. Current Quarterly and Annual U-PASSes can be purchased at Commuter Services. If you have an Annual U-PASS on payroll deductions, you can renew your U-PASS through the Annual Renewal process starting April 1 through April 30, 2013. You can purchase a Quarterly U-PASS from Commuter Services starting the second Friday of the month before the start of every calendar quarter, or an Annual U-PASS starting on June 17th.

How long is my U-PASS valid?

Annual U-PASSes are available via payroll deduction for eligible faculty and staff. Annual U-PASSes expire every year on June 30th.

If you purchase your U-PASS by cash, check, Husky Debit or credit card, your pass will be valid for one quarter. Depending on the date of purchase, your U-PASS fee may be pro-rated. You can renew your U-PASS each quarter at Commuter Services.

Can I use my U-PASS powered by ORCA as soon as I purchase it?

No, it takes 24-48 hours to activate your U-PASS. Be sure to purchase it prior to needing it for your daily transportation needs. You will be responsible for paying your transit fare for the 24 to 48 hours between purchasing your U-PASS and its activation on transit.

Why does it take 24 to 48 hours to activate the U-PASS?

The ORCA system updates twice a day with new pass purchases. U-PASS activation for transit is uploaded onto the readers on buses when they are at the base (i.e. not on the road) and the buses are on the road most of the day. Train station readers are updated daily.
