DO-IT 2004 Scholars Applications Now Being Accepted

Date
Tuesday, December 23, 2003

DO-IT Scholar applications are now being accepted from high school sophomores and juniors with disabilities who are interested in preparing for college. Students with varying ethnic and cultural backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply. The DO-IT Advisory Board will review all complete applications received by January 10th for the 2004 DO-IT Scholars Program. After January 10th, applications will continue to be accepted until all available openings are filled.

The DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology) Scholars program at the University of Washington prepares high school students with disabilities for college and challenging careers. For up to three years, DO-IT Scholars are loaned laptop computers, software, and adaptive technology for use in their homes, where they can network with peers, DO-IT staff members, and working professionals with disabilities. Scholars attend two-week, live-in summer study sessions at the University of Washington to learn about college selection, challenging careers, technology, and self-advocacy.
