'93 Ambassadors

The following Ambassadors began participating in DO-IT as Scholars in 1993. They continue to pursue college and career goals and encourage younger DO-IT Scholars and Ambassadors.

Rachel, '93 Scholar

Stroke and partial paralysis
Earned a bachelor's degree in social work with a minor in applied psychology from Eastern Washington University; currently pursuing a master of social work degree through an online program at University of Southern California. Is a wife and mother.

Mark, '93 Scholar

Attended Big Bend Community College and Eastern Washington University. Was developing plans for an Internet-based business when he died peacefully in his sleep in 2001.

Katie, '93 Scholar

Hearing impairment
Earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Washington State University, and a master's degree in physical therapy from Eastern Washington University. Works at Providence Hospital in Portland, OR, as an acute care physical therapist. Has two sons. Received bilateral cochlear implant in January 2012.

Works for Seattle Lighthouse for the Blind as an office assistant.

Ryan, '93 Scholar

Learning disability
Earned a bachelor's degree in business from Seattle University. Started and later sold an auto detailing company; owns one of the largest holiday lighting companies in the state; and has started a commercial services company. Married and owns a home in West Seattle.

Hearing impairment
Attended college. Is captain of the local fire department and has been enjoying a lot of responsibilities. Soon up for certification in transportation.

Blind
Earned a bachelor's degree from The Evergreen State College and a master's degree in technology management from City University of Seattle. Works as a senior systems analyst at Transaction Network Services. Is married with two children.

Graduated with computer information technology degree. Working as a court and medical interpreter.

Studying to be a Python/Django developer.

Visual impairment
Earned an associate's degree in computer applications from Mt. Hood Community College and a bachelor's degree in marketing and information technology from the Portland State University School of Business. Is currently pursuing a career pathways certificate in computer information systems from Portland Community College. Works as an IT help desk intern at the Portland Jewish Academy.

Anna, '93 Scholar

Blind
Earned a bachelor's degree in cell and molecular biology at the University of Washington. Was an artist, consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics, and black belt in Aikido when she died from cancer in June 2004. She received a DO-IT Trailblazer award the same year.

Helps lead a team of developers for a multinational company in the education field Enjoys writing software that helps teachers and students all around the world. Lives in Tacoma with his wife and three children.

Earned an associate's degree from Wenatchee Valley College and has worked as a professional recording artist.
