ADA & Accessibility Steering Committee

In August 2020, President Cauce appointed an ADA & Accessibility Steering Committee to provide ongoing leadership and strategic oversight with regard to the University’s efforts to ensure equal opportunity and full participation for all individuals with disabilities. The committee is charged with fostering an institution-wide environment of inclusion and equal access consistent with the University’s mission and values while embracing the mandates of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other relevant laws and regulations.

Disability Access & Inclusion Advisory Group

The Office of the ADA Coordinator established a Disability Access & Inclusion (DAI) Advisory Group to provide information and seek guidance on topics including, but not limited to:

  • Access and accommodation barriers within UW systems
  • Emergent disability-related issues
  • Disability included within diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
  • Implementation of accessibility guidelines and/or practices
  • Office of the ADA Coordinator initiatives and programs

The Disability Access & Inclusion Advisory Committee membership is primarily comprised of staff, faculty, and students with disabilities.

Accessibility Services & Operations Advisory Group

The Office of the ADA Coordinator established an Accessibility Services & Operations (ASO) Advisory Group to provide information and seek guidance on topics including, but not limited to:

  • Access and accommodation barriers within the UW enterprise
  • Emergent disability-related issues
  • Disability included within diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
  • Implementation of accessibility policy, guidelines, and/or practices
  • Office of the ADA Coordinator initiatives and programs

The ADA Coordinator appoints as members key University positions and/or offices that play a significant role in operations relevant to the obligations of the ADA and related federal and state laws.
