BULRUSHER by Eisa Davis

Directed by UW alum and Head of Directing, UW School of Drama, Valerie Curtis-Newton, MFA ’96

BULRUSHER tells the story of a multiracial girl growing up in a predominantly white town during the 1950s. Bulrusher is an orphan with a gift for clairvoyance that makes her feel like a stranger even amongst the strange. Just when she thought her small world might stifle her, she discovers an entirely new place in her identity, when a black girl from Alabama comes to town. Passionate, lyrical, and brimming with down-home humor, this play is an unforgettable experience in revisioning community.

BULRUSHER will be performed at Jones Playhouse (4045 University Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105) Aug 22 – Sept 14.
