Position description:

College Summit’s, First Year Forward Pilot Program, virtually pairs college juniors and seniors with college freshmen to help them persist through their Freshman year. Students who matriculate to sophomore year are 26% more likely to graduate. College Summit prepares you to be a Mentor and place you with first-year students from across the U.S. Mentoring sessions can be held via Skype, e-mail, or phone calls, etc.,  allowing you to connect with students from anywhere. Time commitment:

Recurring: Over the course of Academic Year, October – May (with breaks in December and January)


Skill requirements:

  • Willingness to share skills, knowledge, and expertise.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and acts as a positive role model.
  • Takes a personal interest in the mentoring relationship.
  • Values ongoing learning and growth in the field.
  • Provides guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Values the opinions and initiatives of others.
  • Motivates others by setting a good example
  • Strong communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Solid knowledge of video communication platforms (e.g Skype, Google Hangouts, etc.)
