Position description:

We are seeking a highly energetic, curious, flexible and good-natured AmeriCorps members to serve as a full time Volunteer & Guest Relations Coordinator, September 2016 through July 2017. The member will serve at North Helpline in the Lake City neighborhood of Seattle.

 

The Volunteer & Guest Relations Coordinator AmeriCorps member will directly support the missions of NH by coordinating volunteers, providing low-income, disabled and senior individuals with food, as well as improving access to resources that empower guests to live healthy, independent lives.

 

Key Duties

 

  • -Answer client questions and direct them to appropriate staff, volunteers or alternative resources to receive the support they need.
  • -Recruit and facilitate volunteers to distribute and process incoming food.
  • -Coordination of weekly Home Delivery (HD) program to homebound, senior and disabled clients, including: Support of lead volunteers in weekly bag production/delivery; Maintain an accurate database and monthly reporting; Field all client inquiries; Conduct surveys to measure increases in social support of senior and disabled clients receiving food assistance.
  • -Support lead client check-in volunteers in processing food bank visits by ensuring they have adequate volunteer help, translators, supplies and technology to accurately and hospitably record client services.
  • -Coordinate application process/approval for clients applying for the expedited waiting option during food bank distribution days.
  • Recruit and facilitate translator volunteers to better serve clients whose primary first language is not English.
  • -Source complimentary services for clients to provide them a stronger foundation of social support, independence and food security Create a resource for other staff and volunteers to readily access and distribute this information to clients.

 

COMPENSATION AmeriCorps receive a monthly modest living stipend of $1,222 before tax deductions, a $5,730 education award upon successful completion service, a sound transit pass, and basic health coverage. Living on a monthly living stipend is tough, but rewarding work. This gig is definitely not about the money!

 

Time commitment: 40 hours/week

  • -Age Requirement: Minimum 18, Maximum 25
