Position Description:

Global to Local seeks a qualified candidate for the volunteer position of Community Programs Class Facilitator Volunteer to lead a 9-week class series centered on women’s heart health. The volunteer will work directly with the Community Program’s Assistant to receive the training necessary to implement the classes and support the work and mission of Global to Local.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Lead a class of 10-15 women through the heart health curriculum (training is provided)
  • Participant recruitment at various community locations in the cities of SeaTac and Tukwila
  • Attend a 3 hour initial training on the class curriculum
  • Other duties as assigned



The volunteer will receive a stipend of $30/class. This position also provides great experience working with a community-oriented non-profit organization.


Time commitment:

This is a part-time volunteer position. Prospective volunteers should be able to commit a minimum of 5 hours a week from Mid-March to June.


Skill requirements:

  • Strong ability to communicate health information to people of varying English proficiencies
  • Women only applicants due to the nature and sensitivity of some activities
  • Reliable transportation to and from the classroom site
  • Dependable and able to complete the full volunteer commitment
  • Previous teaching and/or tutoring experience preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and cross cultural skills
  • Interest in working in a community-oriented organization
