UWAA and BECU partner for students

Since 2008, BECU and the UW Alumni Association have joined together to support our members through commitment to diversity and advocacy of higher education.

Whether it’s through affinity card programs, financial literacy seminars or student scholarships, these two nonprofit organizations stand together with strong ties to the local community and a focus on member satisfaction.

Every year, the UWAA conducts a fall membership drive. Since 2015, BECU has matched the dues of UWAA members with a gift to UW student programs, up to $50,000. That’s $50 per regular annual membership. This fall, thanks to the strong response by new and renewing members, BECU donated the full match fund amount, raising a total of $250,000 for students over five years.

BECU also partners with the UWAA for two Homecoming Week events, Alaska Airlines Dawg Dash and the Multicultural Alumni Partnership’s Bridging the Gap Breakfast. Alaska Airlines Dawg Dash is the alumni association’s biggest scholarship fundraiser. The popular event brings thousands of runners and community members to campus in support of students, purple pride and fitness.

The Multicultural Alumni Partnership works to connect the region’s diverse communities, promote equity at the UW and celebrate the achievements of distinguished alumni, community members and students. In 2018, the Multicultural Alumni Partnership reached its goal of building a $1 million scholarship endowment. BECU provided a $20,000 matching gift to the organization, which celebrated its 25th anniversary on October 19, 2019.

Thank you, members, and thank you, BECU!
