Community support for UW Bothell is at an all-time high, even in the face of a state economic downturn. The campus was cited as a major economic benefit to the City of Bothell in a recent Seattle Times article.

R. Brooks Gekler to Lead UW Bothell Business Development Center
UW Bothell welcomes R. Brooks Gekler as director of the Business Development Center, a unit within the Business Program at UW Bothell. Gekler will lead the center, launched in 2006 to serve small businesses in the North King/South Snohomish region. More ...

UW Bothell Approves Goodlad Institute
UW Bothell Chancellor Kenyon Chan announced the official launch of the Goodlad Institute for Educational Renewal. Sponsored jointly by UW Bothell, UW Tacoma and the UW Seattle College of Education, the institute is housed on the UW Bothell campus. Says Chan, "Locating the Goodlad Institute at UW Bothell puts us squarely in the national conversation on public school reform and improvement; enabling us to strengthen our partnerships with schools and to effect real change." Dick Truly

Longtime UW Bothell friend Richard H. "Dick" Truly passed away on Jan. 2, 2009. Dick was a great supporter of UW Bothell and was honored at last September’s student convocation. Most notably, he was instrumental in the sale of his former property, the Boone-Truly Ranch, upon which our campus now resides.  More ...

Career Discovery Week Nears!

Career Discovery Week

The UW’s 10th annual Career Discovery Week (Jan. 26-30) offers students and alumni more than 150 free sessions on all three UW campuses. Hundreds of alumni and friends will share their experiences and tips on every career field imaginable. Check the CDW Web site for more details. Or find out about the UW Bothell events, including the Alumni-Student Networking Social on Jan. 27.

Terry Heldreth, BSN ‘08, served on a medical mission in India in November with health-care professionals from the Northwest. View images from her mission. Terry is also the current BSN representative on the UW Bothell Alumni Council.

William Frankhouser, CSS ‘06, Web developer for Everett Community College, recently saw his skills rewarded when the College received the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District 7 Silver Award for its Web site.

Mike Hope

Mike Hope, MAPS ‘06, was elected the 44th District Representative to the Washington State Legislature. He is UW Bothell’s first alumnus to hold state office.


Katie Adamson, MN ’08, had two research projects accepted for presentation at the Western Institute of Nursing Conference and the 8th Annual International Nursing Simulation/Learning Resource Centers Conference. She is in her second term of Ph.D. study at Washington State University.
