Spring Letter 2018

Jeff’s Corner: Notes from the Geographic Trustee

Jeff Adams Headshots

Greetings everyone — and Happy Spring! As winter rapidly draws to a close, I hope you are as excited as I am that the short days of winter and wind, rain and snow are beginning to yield to sunnier and warmer days ahead. The cherry blossoms are already in full bloom in the quad!

It has already been a very exciting year for the University of Washington and UWAA. Undoubtedly, many of you followed along as our Huskies traveled to Glendale, Arizona for a New Year’s showdown versus Penn State in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. Although the Nittany Lions bested us that day, the purple and gold traveled from far and wide and enjoyed an exciting game. Further, to generate some camaraderie and goodwill, alumni and fans of both Washington and Penn State came together to volunteer at the St. Mary’s Food Bank, an organization that serves those in need throughout the greater Phoenix area. This was a great event that helped many people, and one event where all those who attended shared in victory.

Several exciting chapter events have taken place since the first of the year, both within the United States and internationally. On January 30, our New York Huskies gathered to enjoy the acclaimed Broadway play, Farinelli and the King, featuring Tony and Oscar-winner Mark Rylance. Another exciting tradition just took place in Southern California. From March 7 through March 14, our Southern California Huskies gathered in the Palm Springs and Coachella Valley area to enjoy Dawg Days in the Desert and celebrate friendship and purple and gold pride. This wonderful week includes dinners/luncheons, nature hikes, seminars and lectures, and more.

UWAA provides so much value to our alumni and friends. If you are not a member, please consider joining now, as our regional UWAA membership drive is underway! If you are a non-member, a lapsed member, or have family and friends who would enjoy all we have to offer, this is a perfect time to join us. Please visit our website for more details.

That’s all I have this time. If you are interested in learning more about UWAA programming, both in Seattle and in points beyond, please take a moment to visit the UWAA events website. In the meantime, I am yours in purple and gold! Go Dawgs!!!
