Nothing but Net: UWAA Member Benefits for Basketball Fans

To most of the world, we're just the UW Alumni Association. But among our members, we're known as "The Backboard." Why? Because when it comes to basketball, they know they can bank on us. Every year the UWAA comes through with discounts to our Husky Hoops Jump Starts—the popular pre-game parties at the Don James Center—and special access to Member Recognition Nights at Husky Basketball. And don't forget Husky Night with the Portland Trail Blazers, featuring a unique opportunity for members to rub elbows with Brandon Roy.

This year's Husky Hoops Jump Starts will take place before the Stanford game on Jan. 8 and the Arizona State game on Feb. 26. For only $20 ($25 for non-members) you'll get good food, beer, wine and soft drinks, chalk talks by the men's basketball coaches and a live performance by the Husky Band and the Cheer Squad. From there, it's a short walk to Hec Ed for the games. The Stanford game is also Member Recognition Night at Husky Basketball. We've reserved a block of 100 tickets to the sold-out game, and will make them available to members through our Web site in early January. The women's game against Stanford on Feb. 8 is a Member Recognition game, too. UWAA members who purchase their tickets through our Web site will get them at a discount. Both Member Recognition games will feature free food and other fun giveaways for UWAA card-carriers.

And come to Portland with the UWAA on Feb. 20 for Husky Night with the Trail Blazers. Cheer Brandon Roy and his talented teammates as they battle the Atlanta Hawks. The evening will include a pre-game dinner and a special post-game event with Roy. Five lucky UWAA members will be selected to have their picture taken at center court with the NBA All-Star and former Husky standout. What's more, the first seven people who purchase a UWAA membership in conjunction with the event will receive a copy of Columns magazine signed by B-Roy himself.
