(Approved by the Provost and Executive Vice President by authority of Executive Order No. 4)

1.  Program Overview

The University of Washington, as a federal contractor, is required to maintain an affirmative action program. An affirmative action program is a set of procedures and good faith efforts designed for an employer to promote equal opportunity for the selection and advancement of all qualified individuals. This program is supported by the President of the University of Washington. The Provost and Executive Vice President is charged with ensuring compliance with the affirmative action program. The Office of Academic Personnel's Director of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action has responsibility for the development, preparation, implementation, and oversight of the program. The University's policies on nondiscrimination and affirmative action can be found in Executive Order No. 31.

The University of Washington's Affirmative Action Plan is available for review, either at designated locations or through the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action's website (Affirmative Action Plans).
