Overtime exempt professional staff are eligible for partial day absences that do not need to be charged to a leave balance as specified by the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Program.
Due to the expectation that overtime exempt professional staff work to complete their job responsibilities, they are generally not required to use paid leave for partial day absences, provided such absences are not unusually frequent or lengthy.
All absences and use of leave are subject to the supervisor's approval.
Overtime eligible professional staff must use appropriate leave to cover partial day absences; if paid leave is not available, leave without pay is used.
If you would like to request a partial day absence, follow your department’s normal leave request procedures to obtain advance approval from your supervisor
If your partial day absence is approved, the absence does not need to be recorded in your Work/Leave record.
