Graduate Appointee Insurance Program (GAIP)
Eligibility Summary

Graduate appointees, fellows, and trainees in eligible positions can participate in the Graduate Appointee Insurance Program (GAIP), a program negotiated between the UW and United Auto Workers on a three-year basis.

Medicare Credible Coverage Notice

Is the GAIP plan that is offered considered credible for prescriptions by Medicare? LifeWise Assurance Company has determined that the prescription drug coverage offered by your health plan is, on average for all plan participants, expected to pay out as much as standard Medicare prescription drug coverage pays and is therefore considered "Credible Coverage." Because your existing coverage is Credible Coverage, you can keep this coverage and not pay a higher premium (a penalty) if you later decide to join a Medicare drug plan. View and/or download the Credible Coverage Notice.
