Naomi Pascal to receive the Native American Art Studies Association's Lifetime Achievement Honor Award

Every other year the Native American Art Studies Association honors an outstanding individual who has made a considerable contribution to the study of Native American Art with the Lifetime Achievement Honor Award. Naomi Pascal, longtime Editor-in-Chief of the University of Washington Press, will be presented with the 2007 Award at the NAASA conference in Fairbanks this September.

Naomi spearheaded the campaign for the Press to take a leadership role in the publication of works of Native American Art, including major museum catalogues, historical and biographical volumes, and contemporary art studies. Her interest and support has benefited the community of scholars as well as the general public and this honor is much deserved.

Previous award winners include Jaune-Quick-to-see Smith (2005), Barbara Hail (2003), Mary Hamilton (2001), Arthur Amiotte (1999), Pablita Velarde and JJ Brody (1997), Bud Whiteford (1995), Gloria Cranmer-Webster (1993), Bill Holm (1991), and Kate Peck Kent (1987).
