practices around data access, administration and appropriate use.

Available
A comprehensive, impartial, and candid assessment of the EDW's current
architecture and processes is now available.

Data Management Committee
Purpose
The purpose of the Data Management Committee (DMC), as outlined in the Charter letter from the Provost, is to address the following issues related to data and information management across the UW campuses:
To be consistent in the approach, designation, and governance of data, metadata, and the information base of business processes.
To define clear and commonly-used structures, models, definitions, and processes to support coordination and collaboration, effective decision-support, and efficient operations University-wide.
To provide guidance and recommendations concerning our institutional data related to expanding access, improving quality, strategic planning, assuring security, and business performance management.
Goals
The main goals as outlined in the Provost's Charter letter:
- Review and document business processes, data definitions, data dictionaries, data warehouse elements and uses, and business intelligence tools.
- Recommend University-wide standards for data administration aspects of business processes, data definitions, data dictionaries, data warehouse elements and uses, and business intelligence tools to the Associate Vice Provost for Information Management.
- Adopt, communicate, and oversee implementation of University-wide standards for data administration aspects of business processes, data definitions, data dictionaries, data warehouse elements and uses, and business intelligence tools.
- Engage in priority setting and policy setting as related to the above.
- Recommend and coordinate structures and sub-committees (e.g., the Access and Roles User Group) necessary to accomplish the charge and related tasks outlined above.
