Mac Systems Lead

Description

Build and maintain computer images, servers, networks and file and print services. Maintain Apple equipment and servers. Write and maintain maintenance and imaging documentation. Script and software development for maintenance.

Pay:

$12.25 per hour

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with staff, students and other partners regarding current software and hardware, troubleshooting, and fixes
  • Maintain all Apple equipment (includes hardware/software installation and testing, as well as general troubleshooting and hardware maintenance)
  • Develop software and scripts to aid in maintaining the lab image and configurations
  • Coordinate with the Systems Team PC Leads to provide uniformity in working environment between Apple and PC sections of the lab
  • Develop and maintain Virtual Machine environments
  • Assist the Network Lead in maintaining Apple servers
  • Order and install warranty parts
  • Recommend hardware and software upgrades
  • Write and maintain maintenance and imaging documentation
  • Maintain specialty equipment such as, but not limited to, ATL workstations, Video workstations, scanners, and Digital Presentation Studio
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level support to a variety of clients, including answering questions and fixing hardware and software issues
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be a student enrolled at the University of Washington

Desired:

  • Experience with authenticating OS X to Windows Domain
  • Experience writing scripts with AppleScript to automate tasks
  • Experience working with a UNIX/Linux-based operating system and performing basic tasks on the command line
  • Experience scripting in bash, python or equivalent
  • Familiarity with DeployStudio, JAMF, Casper Suite, or similar imaging
  • Experience with server administration
  • HTML knowledge
  • A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background verification will be required prior to hire. Must be fully eligible to work in the United States.
