UW Students' Role
Literacy Arts ASB: UW students are trained to work with children in an elementary or middle school setting. UW Students are then sent out in groups to various sites and help young students come up with an idea for a book, write a rough draft, edit the draft, and print and bind a single-signature book. The young students will then illustrate their published book and present it to the community at the end of the week. All needed materials are provided to the local schools by the Pipeline Project.
Environmental ASB: UW students will participate in a Winter 2008 Inner Pipeline seminar to develop and practice an environmental science curriculum. During Spring Break, UW students will teach this curriculum in elementary and middle school classrooms at the Quileute Tribal School while learning about the environment and culture of La Push, WA.
