Alternative Spring Break History
2000 marked the first annual Alternative Spring Break when 22 students headed out to our first four partner sites in Harrah, Forks, La Push and Omak. As of 2007, 335 UW undergraduates have worked with thousands of rural children helping them to write and publish their own book and conduct scientific explorations.
In 2007, 55 students headed out to Forks, La Push, Neah Bay, Harrah, Toppenish, Tonasket, Curlew, Omak, Brewster and Bridgeport to work with over 9,000 elementary, middle and high school students.
