Teachers are one of the most influential people in shaping our society and younger generations, yet there is a shortage in the field of qualified, dedicated teachers. In this seminar, we will help prepare students who are interested in teaching apply for graduate school or alternative teaching programs by working on personal statements, resumes, and interview strategies, as well as classroom experience. We will also discuss the issues surrounding education of teachers, tackling the debates of teacher quality, preparing teachers for cultural diversity, and the future of teacher education under the Obama-Arne Duncan administration. Students will obtain all of the necessary information and support to feel confident when taking the next steps in their teaching careers.
