Who we are
  • The Pipeline Project is a K-12 outreach program that connects undergraduate students from the University of Washington with educational and service opportunities in local and regional schools and community organizations through tutoring and mentoring. The Pipeline Project is housed in The Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity .
  • Our Mission: The Pipeline Project offers undergraduates community experiences that help them discover personal and academic directions; that provide under-serviced K-12 students with individualized tutoring and college role models; that support the work of public school teachers; and that bring academic departments at the UW into direct contact with the greater educational community.
  • Our Vision:The Pipeline Project will strengthen its powerful connections to students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

    The Project will offer K-12 outreach opportunities to every UW undergraduate who desires them and will nurture and support all UW students who initiate their own local, regional, and international K-12 educational projects.

    The Project will help UW departments and units seeking closer connections to the K-12 experience to implement them.

    Regarding the community, the Project will ensure strong, vital, and reciprocal relationships with K-12 school and community partners who value such relationships.

    The work of the Pipeline Project will function as a tiered mentoring system, where Project staff mentor upper level undergraduates, who mentor entering undergraduates, who, in turn, mentor K-12 students.

    In this tiered system, "diversity" is not mentioned as a vision or a goal, because it is infused into every aspect of staffing, recruitment, and programming at the Pipeline Project.
