The Floating Bridge

The New Deal brought many projects to Puget Sound that had long-term impacts on the future growth and development of the area. The Lake Washington Floating Bridge, shown here during its dedication, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and McChord Field (now McChord Air Force Base), located north of Fort Lewis in Pierce County, were all dedicated the last week of June/July in 1940.
