The Aluminum Industry

Among the many industries drawn to the Pacific Northwest by the abundance of hydroelectricity was the production of aluminum. This view shows the pouring of molten iron around a steel slab in the carbon anodes used in the smelting of aluminum at a plant near Wenatchee. Other World War II Pacific Northwest Plants were located at Longview and Tacoma in Washington State, and near Salem in Oregon.
