Document 44: Letter from Lynn Smith, Rampart, to his sister, November 1898.

Last night a man who brought 1500 dozen eggs in packed in lard and opened a restaurant was found unconscious and first report was apoplexy, but it was an attempt at suicide. His eggs were too ancient for use and he could not sell them so he grew despondent.
